In-situ third-order interferometric autocorrelation of a femtosecond deep-ultraviolet pulse

چکیده
The interferometric measurement of an ultrashort optical pulse is demonstrated using three-photon ionization of Xe in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MS). This approach allowed measurement of the third-order fringe-resolved autocorrelation trace of an ultrashort optical pulse in the deep-ultraviolet (DUV) region. The pulse can be measured in-situ using the same MS that is employed in ultrafast spectroscopy. Sensitivity (>3×10 W) was sufficient to measure a DUV pulse used in such applications. This setup has the potential to measure the temporal duration of a broadband Send offprint requests to: [email protected] 2 Y. Miyoshi, S. Zaitsu, T. Michelson-type all-reflective interferometric autocorrelation in the VUV regime
We demonstrate second-order interferometric autocorrelation of a pulse in the vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) spectral range using an optical arrangement equivalent to a Michelson interferometer. In an all-reflective design, wavefront splitting is realized with two moveable interdigitated reflective gratings forming a diffraction pattern with well separated orders and an intensity distribution dependi...
متن کاملExperimental determination of temporal asymmetry of ultrashort laser pulses using unbalanced modified spectrum auto-interferometric correlation technique
We report experimental implementation of an unbalanced modified spectrum auto-interferometric correlation (UMOSAIC) technique for visual detection and estimation of the laser pulse temporal asymmetry without direction-oftime ambiguity. This is based on modification of the spectral contents of second order unbalanced interferometric autocorrelation (U-IAC) signals. We use a commercial AlGaAs lig...
متن کاملFemtosecond Kerr-lens autocorrelation.
An autocorrelation measurement of femtosecond laser pulse duration using the Kerr-lens mechanism is demonstrated. This technique can also be used as a sensitive and absolutely calibratable method for measuring ultrafast optical nonlinearities. A method that uses an electronic spectral-filtering scheme is proposed for determining the frequency chirp of pulses by interferometric autocorrelation.
متن کاملSpectral phase retrieval from interferometric autocorrelation by a combination of graduated optimization and genetic algorithms.
We describe a method for retrieving spectral phase information from second harmonic interferometric autocorrelation measurements supplemented by the use of the observed spectral intensity. By applying a combination of graduated optimization and genetic algorithms, accurate phase retrieval of laser pulses as short as a few optical cycles was obtained from the measured autocorrelation and spectra...
متن کاملComplete Characterization of Optical Pulses in the Picosecond Regime for Ultrafast Communication Systems
Ultrashort optical pulses have a variety of applications, one of which is the development of optical time-devision multiplexing (OTDM) networks. Data is encoded in these short optical pulses (typically a few picoseconds in length) which are then interleaved in time to provide very high data rates on a single wavelength. Wavelengthdivision multiplexing (WDM) uses multiple channels by interleavin...
